Divide and Conquer

Thursday the kids were split up and went their separate ways to explore, experience and conquer their individual adventures.
Leah went with Grandma and enjoyed a day with her and my mom's friend Nancy and her granddaughter Sheridan. They went to Fresno and toured the Underground Gardens and then hit Roeding Park to visit the Zoo and Storybook Land as well. Here is what Leah had to say about her day.
Her favorite stop was the Zoo. She loved seeing the elephants spray sand all over themselves to keep cool. She also loved the petting zoo called Small Wonders where she got to use brushes and groom the sheep and goats. She enjoyed a picnic lunch with Lunchables and made a new friend in Sheridan too.
Stuart spent the day with Poppy and myself. First Stuart and I went to the pet store and bought live crickets to feed his new Blue Belly Lizard. Stuart watched closely as the store clerk scooped up 15 live crickets into the plastic bag and even helped her count them all. I watched from a distance. You can buy 15 crickets for one dollar a pretty good deal.
Then we picked up Poppy and after a quick lunch headed to Funworks. We bought passes for 3 attractions. Our first choice was the Bumper Boats. In all our talk and planning about what we wanted to do I never gave a thought to getting slightly wet let alone soaked through and through on the Bumper Boats. Stuart had a blast squirting Poppy and I with the water guns. It was fun to see him having a blast and I worked hard to be a good mother and good sport about being so wet.
We decided to let ourselves dry out with a good 18 hole mini golf game. We went up, over, around, and maybe even through with our golf balls and in the end Poppy walked away the winner with Stuart and I close behind. Mostly though, by the end we were all dry.
Finally we ended with the Go Karts. I have to admit that these were far more fun than even I anticipated and I think I missed my calling as a race car driver. Stuart did extremely well for his first time on them. He didn't spin out or miss the brakes once and he even smiled and waved as he passed us.
This is what Stuart has to say about his day. "I loved the Bumper Boats the best because I got all wet" and as far as the Go Karts go "If people wouldn't bump into me I would have liked it better but I definitely want to do them again." His opinion is that we could skip the mini golf next time that was more frustrating than fun.
The kids and I will put together an online scrapbook of their adventures and post them soon. We hope you are conquering your adventures and enjoying our Summer of Blog.

The Summer of Blog Begins

This summer I decided that we would use our blog to write about and document the things we did this summer. I want to take pictures and write stories and do art projects this summer with the kids and today we've begun.
Stuart and Leah decided that they wanted to write letters to their cousins and friends this morning. Partly in hopes of getting a letter in return. Leah wrote her's out by hand. She did a rough draft first then recopied her letter on a clean sheet of lined paper and decorated it with stickers. She also corrected all of her spelling and punctuation errors. Good job Leah.
Stuart wanted to write his letter on the computer. He added pictures to his. He did a great job on the content of his letter and has no spelling errors either. He does have a few punctuation errors but did a great job of using the computer and printing his letter out all by himself. Super job Stuart.
We hope you check back in with us through out the Summer and see what else we are doing and be on the look out for your letters.
